To Blog or Not to Blog

I have wanted to start a blog for a long time. And this morning, staring out at a beautiful snow covered garden, I decided it’s time. I’m surrounded by a load of other stuff I’m meant to be doing, but having just returned from an invigorating walk, I’m all psyched up for this. Today is the day! I’m going to start a blog.

So, how long have I wanted to blog? Well, probably a year and a half, maybe more. It started with me being jealous of my husband’s photography he does for his hiking blog. You see I used to take tons of photos, and loved doing so, but as soon as he started with his fancy new digital camera, I just gave up. I thought: what’s the point of lumping my Kodak around if he’s got some of the same pictures that I would take, only better quality?

But a while ago I got that photography itch again. I thought, wouldn’t it be great if I had somewhere to show my family and friends my pictures of all the gallivanting (as my Granny would say) that I do? I’ve taken a lot of pictures over the years, not only here in Switzerland and in Europe, but also across the pond, when I visit family and friends in Bermuda or in the US or Canada.  But what’s the point of taking all these pictures, if I don’t show them to anybody:  to fatten up my hard drive?

You know, to come to think of it,  I did start a blog a long time ago, which is probably floating around there somewhere in cyberspace.  But not getting the whole process, and not having enough time to devote to my hobbies, let alone a blog, I eventually forgot about it.

But now, things have changed. I’m,  at the moment,  what I would like to call : a homemaker and so I  have more time on my hands.

I have debated the « To blog or not to blog ? » question,  for a while now, wondering if anyone, besides my mother, will want to look at it, let alone read it , and I have struggled with how to bring all of my varied interests into one blog.  And how I can write a blog which is not only interesting for other people but is also interesting for me, so that I am motivated to keep it up, because hey, if it doesn’t interest me, then  there’s…no blog !!

So, now onto why I picked this blog name?

Well, I’m a dreamer, which you will probably figure out reading this blog, and I love to dream. I dream about all sorts of things: what I’m going to do with my house, travelling, cooking, gardening and now more than ever, quilting. But I didn’t want to make this a quilting blog. As much as I love quilting, there are many other crafts I am interested in and want to try out. This blog is about accepting my own challenge of making my house a home and finding my own creativity, while doing so. And most importantly it’s about turning dreams into reality.

So  here I go, I hope you enjoy my journey, and feel free to come along for the ride!!
