Country Girl’s Sunday Update

Dear Readers,

I know it has been a while, and I’m sorry!!

Again it has been a slow week on my blog. Not one post! So, “Why?” you might ask? Well let me just say, I have been writing a lot, but just not posting my writing on my blog. I did actually try to send a quick post from my smart phone on Wednesday, but either I didn’t understand the process enough or WordPress wasn’t working properly; because now it is gone.

Do you know how frustrated I was?!

Ok, I wasn’t frustrated because of what I wrote. Actually it is a good thing that it was erased. No, I was frustrated because I uploaded a lot of pictures, to show you what I have been up to, and now I’m going to have to add them all over again!!!

Musings of a Facebook Lover

I have also been on Facebook a lot this week. With all the Facebook hype last week I decided it was time that I really get to understand this ‘thing’ that I had been avoiding for such a large part of my life!!! So I began the experiment, of making me into a Facebook lover. I decided that if I can’t ‘beat them’ I better just ‘join them’.

I never ‘needed’ Facebook before in my life, but now that I have started to keep in better contact with my family and friends, I decided that it was worth keeping my account.

For example, when my sister is really busy, you cannot contact or find her anywhere else except on Facebook. Also, it allows me to catch up with old friends that I haven’t seen in years and others that I see on a ‘regular basis’ but don’t call, email, Skype or What’s App.

I love how I can take a picture on my Samsung Smart Phone and with one click I can upload it to Facebook where all my family, friends and ‘followers’ can see it; If I choose, that is.

     

That rant was just so that you know, I’m over there and if I’m not blogging, then that is where you can find me.

Musings of a Homemaker

This year I decided that my inspirational word for the year would be ‘Family’. So for this reason, the top of my priority list is seeing more of, both my (Swiss and Bermudian) immediate and extended family.

By family I would like to add close friends of the family, god mothers, fathers, etc. You get the idea.

So seeing more of my friends and family means, spending quality time with them. By time, I mean Quality Time, i.e. more good conversations, more family vacations and more visits to those family members and people that mean a lot to me and my Countryboy.

  

Musings of a Home Cook

As you probably know, if you’ve been following me either on my blog or on Facebook or Pinterest, I have been addicted to cooking for some months now. This started back in the Fall when I got addicted to quilting podcasts and Pinterest and when I started caring more about my health.

So rather than read about cooking or look idly through magazines and cookbooks as I once did, I have begun to try to experiment and even make up my own recipes; hence my growing Pinterest, Facebook and Instagram presence.

 

Musings of a Road Tripping Country Girl

Number 4 on my rapidly growing to-do list, is to finish planning my 2014 vacation; in other words Countryboy and I’s vacation, together, alone.

Once Countryboy’s boss had given him the big OK, all we needed to do was book our flights! Well, anyone who has tried to book a big, budget holiday knows, booking a flight is no quick or easy task.

Yesterday, Countryboy went to the annual St. Gallen OFFA (Ostschweitzer Frühling und Freizeit Ausstellung)http://www.offa.ch/index.php?id=37 which is a combination of the Ferien Messe (Vacation Exposition) http://www.offa.ch/index.php?id=1 and the OCA (Ostschweizer Camping Ausstellung) http://www.offa.ch/index.php?id=53. In plain English, this is basically an exposition or trade fair for Leisure Sports and Travel.

As Countryboy arrived at the exposition, late in the day, he was only able to rush around to the stands, chat with a few friends, and collect a bunch of brochures.  One brochure, that I found particularly ‘interesting’, was one that included Bermuda in it, because Bermuda doesn’t fit anywhere else.

He picked up this brochure, not because I need it, but to show me the 3 hotels that the travel agency recommended to its Swiss travelers: Cambridge Beaches Resort & Spa, Grotto Bay Beach Resort and The Fairmont Southampton (The South P: Southampton Princess). Yes, if you know Bermuda, maybe you are surprised! If you don’t let’s say these are three of the most reliable, affordable, 4 and 5 star hotels in Bermuda. ‘Affordable’ because none of them are in the city.

Back to our own Vacation 2014 to the US, it sounds as if my Countryboy, who is upstairs deciding which flights to take, has yet to make a final decision. It is 4:00 pm as I write this sentence and I think by the sound of it, it will be lucky if he makes a decision tonight!!
